Dr Pounds is a Highly Specialist Clinical Neuropsychologist who has highly specialist experience in clinical neuropsychology, having worked at The National Hospital of Neurology and Neurosurgery, Hurstwood Park Neurological Centre and Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. She holds a First Class Bachelor of Science degree with Honours, a Master's degree in Neuroscience, for which she was awarded a Distinction and a Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from Royal Holloway, University of London.
Dr Pounds has worked across various specialist clinics including neurosurgery, traumatic brain injury, HIV dementia and stroke. She also has specialist experience in working with neurodevelopmental disorders, older adults and eating disorders.
Dr Pounds provides a holistic approach to neurorehabilitation and psychological intervention, with a focus on compassionate approaches to support clients and families. She has expertise in completing comprehensive neuropsychological assessment and rehabilitation for people with acquired brain injuries, neurological and neurodegenerative disorders as well as in delivering adapted psychological talking therapy interventions, cognitive rehabilitation, behavioural monitoring and interventions and cognitive rehabilitation in clients with acquired and traumatic brain injuries.
Aside from this, she has collaborated on the development of a mobile application alongside NHS doctors to support the general population with their cognitive and emotional well-being. Dr Pounds is interested in research and development, with her Doctoral research investigating Alzheimer's disease in Down syndrome. She has also supported colleagues with research looking at "brain fog" and new ways of assessing for depression.
Dr Pounds currently works as a treating clinician in the Psychologia Medico-legal Neuropsychology Service and co-leads the Psychologia Functional Disorders Team and has expertise in assessing and supporting clients with non-epileptic seizures, functional cognitive disorder and functional movement disorder. She is highly commended by her multidisciplinary professional colleagues for placing her clients at the centre of their rehabilitation and her thoughtful, compassionate, thorough and detail-focused approach to both neuropsychological assessment and intervention.
